Brian Teare, whose book of poems titled “Pleasure” was published by Boise State’s Ahsahta Press, took home the 2011 Lambda Literary Award for Gay Poetry. The 23rd annual awards ceremony was held at the School of Visual Arts Theater in New York City on May 26.
“Pleasure,” which is Teare’s third book, “writes the disaster” of the AIDS epidemic in personal elegiac poems and attempts to make a memorial “in language sufficient/to pain : not in itself the world : the thought of it.”
