Boise State employee spurred NCAA probe with email

Dismayed that Boise State was not taking her compliance complaints seriously after several years of complaints, Amy Christoffersen fired off an email to the NCAA enforcement staff on April 22, 2008.

And with that email — which made its way to the Western Athletic Conference and Boise State the same day — the probe that now ensnares the Broncos’ athletic department began.

“I did the right thing,” Christoffersen told the Idaho Statesman on Wednesday. “We’re Bronco fans. We always will be and it’s tough to see this happening. I also have to do the right thing and I did at the time when I gave it to them.”

Athletic department employees are required to sign a statement that they are not aware of rules violations. Christoffersen said she felt uncomfortable signing the form.
