Book launch party for ANTHONY DOERR to be held July 8 at LINEN BUILDING

Idaho’s Writer-in-Residence will read from his new book, Memory Wall

Proceeds from ticket sales benefit THE CABIN

A book launch party and benefit to celebrate the release of Idaho Writer-in-Residence Anthony Doerr’s Memory Wall will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at the Linen Building, 1402 W. Grove St. in Downtown Boise’s Linen District. Admission is $10 at the door or in advance by calling The Cabin at 208.331.8000. All ages, full bar with I.D.

Doerr will read from Memory Wall a week before it hits shelves. Featuring four new short stories and two big novellas, Memory Wall includes an entire story set in the Wood River Valley. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Cabin. Doerr will sign books after the reading.

The title novella won the 2010 National Magazine Award for fiction. The second story has been called “a masterpiece of observed detail and intuitive poetic sense, like DeLillo at his best.” The fourth story won an O. Henry Prize; the fifth story won a 2011 Pushcart Prize.

“It’s fair to say,” declares Dave Eggers, “that Anthony Doerr is doing things with the short story that have rarely been attempted and seldom achieved.”
